Learn to read the Greek of the New Testament from the first letter. Four modules alternate writing and listen-and-repeat lessons: the lowercase alphabet, breathings, accents and diphthongs, the article and the five cases, first and second declension nouns, εἰμί, the present active indicative, adjectives, prepositions, personal pronouns, and a first look at the imperfect and the aorist. Read John 1:1, John 3:16, John 11:35, 1 John 4:8, Matthew 5:3, Mark 1:1, Romans 3:23, Matthew 6:9, Philippians 4:13 and 1 Corinthians 13:13 word by word in the SBL Greek New Testament. Pronunciation guides follow the Erasmian pronunciation used in most US seminaries. The course voice reads with Modern Greek pronunciation, and no speech recognizer scores Erasmian Greek, so speaking practice is ungraded listen and repeat.
Learn the 24 lowercase letters, the Erasmian pronunciation, diphthongs, breathings, accents and punctuation, and read John 11:35.
Use the five cases, the article, first and second declension nouns and εἰμί, and read Mark 1:1, 1 John 4:8 and John 1:1.
Conjugate the present active indicative, make adjectives agree, use prepositions with their cases, and read Matthew 5:3 and Philippians 4:13.
Read personal pronouns, the imperfect and the aorist, then Matthew 6:9, Romans 3:23, 1 Corinthians 13:13 and John 3:16.
