Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of the Cloud Forest Martial Arts Institute app, website, and membership, operated by Greensboro Martial Arts Academy LLC (“Cloud Forest”). By creating an account or using the app, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy.

Your account

  • Provide accurate information and keep it current.
  • Accounts for students under 18 are opened and managed by a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms on the student’s behalf.
  • Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell us right away if you suspect unauthorized use.

Membership, billing, and cancellation

  • On-campus membership includes an annual club fee and, for some programs, monthly tuition. Current Online Academy subscriptions have no annual club fee. Fees are shown before you enroll.
  • Recurring fees renew automatically through Stripe until you cancel. You can view and manage your billing in the app.
  • 30-day cancellation notice. Regular on-campus tuition is month to month. Paid Online Academy subscriptions also require at least 30 days’ notice to cancel. Cancellation takes effect at the first full billing-period end on or after that 30-day notice deadline. You retain access through that paid period. Any renewal due within the notice period processes normally at its full amount, and access continues through the renewed period. The Online Academy monthly trial has the separate cancellation rule below.
  • No refunds. All payments are non-refundable, including any payment made during the 30-day notice period. We do not prorate partial periods.
  • To cancel, use the Billing screen of the member app (see how to manage your membership) or contact the front desk. You will receive confirmation of your cancellation and its effective date.
  • Some programs are taught by independent instructors whose tuition may be billed separately. We will make the payment arrangement clear at enrollment.
  • The Apprenticeship is a five-year commitment under its own contract, and Personal Advisor is a six-month commitment. Their specific agreements govern those commitments.

Online Academy subscriptions

  • Monthly trial. A card is required for the free 3-day trial. You pay $0 today. Cancel before the trial ends to avoid the first charge. Otherwise, Stripe charges $34 on day 4 and the subscription renews monthly until canceled.
  • Annual subscription. Stripe charges $390 today and renews the subscription automatically every twelve months until canceled. The annual option has no free trial.
  • Cancellation after payment begins. The 30-day notice and no-refund policy above apply to paid monthly and annual subscriptions. Cancellation ends access at the first full billing-period end that falls at least 30 days after your notice, preserving access for the period you paid for. Payments are non-refundable and are not prorated.
  • Annual renewal during notice. Give notice at least 30 days before an annual renewal to avoid the next annual charge. If renewal falls within your 30-day notice period, the full $390 renewal still processes and you retain another full year of access. Your cancellation confirmation states the final end date.
  • Cancel through the Billing screen of the member app or send written notice to the school. Membership management instructions explain these routes. For help before or after enrollment, use Online Academy help.
  • Active on-campus students have academy library access through their existing school account. Check your account or ask the school before buying a separate subscription. An online-only subscription does not include on-campus classes.

Trial passes

Members may receive trial passes to share with friends. Each pass gives a new visitor a two-week trial as described at the time of issue. Passes have no cash value, are not redeemable for cash, are for first-time visitors, and may be limited or withdrawn at the school’s discretion. Any arrangement between a member and the person they invite is between those individuals.

Conduct on and off the mat

  • Follow your instructors’ directions and the school’s safety rules and etiquette.
  • Treat fellow students, staff, and the community with respect. Harassment, threats, and abusive behavior are not allowed.
  • Use community posts, messages, and other features lawfully and respectfully. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these terms.

Health and assumption of risk

Martial arts and physical training carry inherent risks of injury. You agree to train within your ability, to follow safety instructions, and to consult a physician before beginning if you have any health concern. Your enrollment waiver and release apply to your participation. Nothing in the app is medical advice.

Private-club enrollment and consent

Enrollment requires agreement to the school’s rules, mandatory photography and media release, and school communications consent. The current shared consent wording is reproduced below. These clauses concern recording Institute activities and school communications; they do not require a remote student to attend the facility. Ask the school before enrolling if you need clarification about how they apply to your study.

PHOTOGRAPHY AND MEDIA RELEASE: I understand that photographs, video, and audio may be recorded during classes, events, and other activities while I (or my child) am present at Cloud Forest Martial Arts Institute. I grant Cloud Forest Martial Arts Institute and Greensboro Martial Arts Academy LLC the irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free right to use, reproduce, edit, and publish this footage and my likeness in any medium, including for advertising, marketing, education, instructional and tutorial content, social media, and archival purposes. I waive any right of ownership, inspection, approval, or compensation regarding this material, and I release the Institute from any claim arising from its use. This release is a condition of membership, including temporary day or seminar membership.

COMMUNICATIONS CONSENT: I agree that, by signing, Cloud Forest Martial Arts Institute may add me to its newsletter and may contact me by email at the address I provided with school news, schedules, events, and promotions. I understand I may unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email.

You may unsubscribe from newsletter and marketing emails using the link in any email or request suppression from the school. Operational and account-related messages may still be sent. A parent or legal guardian accepts enrollment terms and signs for a student under 18.

Online courses and content

Courses, videos, lessons, and other materials are provided for your personal, non-commercial use as a member. You may not copy, share, record, resell, or redistribute them. All content, including the Wei (衛) family curriculum, names, and marks, belongs to Cloud Forest or its licensors and is protected by law.

Completion certificates are currently available in nine courses. A completion certificate records course work completed; it is not a professional qualification, proof of proficiency, or a martial arts rank. Graded certification is not currently offered. Optional form proficiency ($49), curriculum-level ($99), and rank ($199) assessments are separate from library access. Assessment registration is closed while requirements and registration terms are finalized; no assessment payment is being accepted. The Academy assessment information explains the planned process.

Service availability

We work to keep the app running but provide it “as is” and cannot guarantee it will always be available or error-free. We may update, change, or discontinue features.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cloud Forest and Greensboro Martial Arts Academy LLC are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under law.

Text messages (SMS)

Cloud Forest may text members who opt in about classes, schedule, account, and billing. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, or HELP for help. Details are in our Privacy Policy.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Guilford County, North Carolina.

Changes

We may update these terms. When we do, we will change the date above and, for significant changes, notify you in the app or by email. Continuing to use the app means you accept the updated terms.
