Qi, Prana, and the Meanings of Energy
Lesson 1 of Acupuncture and the Chakra Energy System. Anyone can read this lesson with no account. Every lesson after this one is for students.
Module 1: Introduction to Energy Medicine
This course compares TCM concepts with a chakra framework and examines a source that combines them. The aim is to understand the material, notice its assumptions and evaluate its claims.
1What “energy” means here
In TCM, Qi is a traditional concept used to describe function, movement and relationship. Prana has its own meanings in Indian traditions. These concepts should not be assumed to be identical to each other or to energy as measured in physics and metabolism.
The body does use measurable energy, such as energy released through cellular metabolism. That fact does not establish an etheric body, a chakra circuit, or a hormone-control mechanism.
2How the course is organized
You will study symbolic profiles, TCM vocabulary, source point tables and examples of proposed synthesis. Each clinical claim needs its own evidence. Acupuncture has evidence for some applications, especially certain pain conditions, but that does not validate every chakra formula in this source.
Modern medicine also investigates causes, prevention and whole-person needs. Comparing traditions is more useful when both are described accurately rather than treating one as concerned only with symptoms.

3Pause and think
Why does the body’s use of metabolic energy fail to prove the course’s chakra circuits?
