Students, parents, and apprentices come here to train the martial path and to learn how a working institute actually runs. The work sits under one roof: class, teaching, publishing, software, and the daily operations of a school.
The Institute
Cloud Forest Martial Institute is a martial arts school and a professional practice in software, publishing, podcasts, and education. We build with a higher-education standard of rigor and an entrepreneur’s seriousness about livelihood. Our approach was shaped through years with Appalachian State University’s regional business development institute. We also draw on support from many 501(c)(3) programs, NinjaWayze Software Development, and communities of entrepreneurs with decades of experience. We use newer technology as it becomes available, without the gimmick language, to help students and families improve their lifestyle and their ability to earn.
This apprenticeship was built under the guidance, support, and tutelage of experienced martial artists, educators, and entrepreneurs who asked to remain anonymous.
Donors and financial backers have also asked for anonymity.
Some of the Institute's practice is new to the market. It is built to hold up against work that has been in the field for years.
What it includes
Most students start with a class. The Institute apprenticeship is how some students, and some families, go further: the art plus the school's own work. The formal teaching apprenticeship ($200/mo, five-year contract, interview first) is one door, by interview with Sifu Johnson. The rest is learned beside the hall.
Class is the center. Students train the Wei Family 衛 system on the floor: Guardian Fist, Chinese boxing, combat jujitsu, forms, Tai Chi, and the internal work. Adults who already know they want to teach can ask about the formal five-year teaching apprenticeship under Sifu Johnson, by interview.
The teaching apprenticeshipThe Institute keeps a working software practice. Apprentices see how school tools, sites, and student systems are built and kept, including work connected with NinjaWayze Software Development. This is exposure beside a running practice, not a coding camp and not a stack for show.
Cloud Forest Publishing, books, journals, and spoken work sit in the same school. Apprentices learn how a page is written, how a voice is recorded, and how that work leaves the hall without dressing it up.
Books from the schoolTeaching is part of the art. Apprentices watch how a class is led, how a student is looked after, and how a curriculum stays honest. Some of that happens on the floor. Some of it happens in the Online Academy and Study Hall.
Online AcademyA school that pays its bills has a desk: schedule, enrollment, communications, the visitor pass, the store. Apprentices see that work as it is done, so livelihood is a practice, not a speech.

The Institute exists to help students and families improve their lifestyle and their ability to earn. That is the measure. Rank is not the product. A job title is not promised.
A body that works, a quieter mind, and a household that trains together. Class gives order to the week. Parents see the same values on the floor that they ask for at home: respect, attention, and showing up.
Teaching, writing, software exposure, and the habits of running something real. Those skills transfer. The Institute treats livelihood with the same seriousness it treats the art, and it does it without gimmick language.
How it fits the hall
This work lives in the hall at 719 W Gate City Blvd. The software practice, the books, the teaching, and the desk sit in the same building as class. There is no second campus and no separate startup school.
Students bow in for kung fu or Tai Chi. Some of them stay to help a kids class, set a camera, draft a page, or learn how the visitor desk runs. The apprenticeship grows out of that week. Character is trained on the floor. Livelihood is trained on the same floor, in the work the Institute already does.
