The art

Okinawan karate, taught the traditional way

Goju Ryu means hard-soft school. It is one of the four original Okinawan karate styles, built on strong stances, close-range strikes and blocks, breathing forms, and body conditioning. Kids learn it through kata, basics, and controlled sparring; adults train the same curriculum at full depth.

Where it comes from

Kyoshi James Howell, a seventh-degree Kyoshi in the Peter Urban lineage, leads the program as a partner school inside Cloud Forest. Goju Ryu has its own belts, its own tests, and its own tuition.

What it does for you

A clear belt ladder

Kids see the next belt and work toward it. Tests are regular and earned.

Discipline and etiquette

Karate's structure suits children who need routine.

Strong basics

Stances, blocks, and strikes drilled until they are automatic.

Kids and parents on the same night

Kids classes at 5:30 and 6:30, adults right after. Families train back to back.

What a class looks like

Bow in, warm-up, basics in lines, kata practice by rank, pad work or supervised sparring, bow out.
